There are Bible reader who think that in Matthew 4:10, Christ claimed that He is God. Let us quote the verse:

MT 4:10 Then Jesus saith to him: Begone, Satan: for it is written, The Lord thy God shalt thou adore, and him only shalt thou serve.

Anwer: Christ did not claim to be a God, rather He is quoting a verse in the Old Testament of the Bible.

 Those who are making their minds narrow would think that Christ quoted the verse in the Old Testament in order to tell Satan that He is God. But this is actually a wrong interpretation.

If you will look closely to the Matthew 4:10, you will learn that Satan is tempting Christ to do a thing that is in contrary to God's will.

MT 4:9 And said to him: All these will I give thee, if falling down thou wilt adore me.

In Matthew 4:9, you will notice that Satan is trying to temp Christ to kneel down and worship him (Satan). Satan promised Christ that if the latter will worship Satan, everything that he saw will be given by Satan to Him.

But, Christ knew the words of God very much. So, to counter the temptation of Satan, Christ quoted the verse Deuteronomy 6:13 which says:

DEUT 6:13 Take heed diligently lest thou forget the Lord, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and shalt serve him only, and thou shalt swear by his name.

In that verse, God told the Israelites to serve God alone. It's like Christ was saying to Satan, "I will never worship you because God told us to serve and worship Him alone."

Reflection

The fact that Satan tempted Christ is the proof that Christ is not God. You see, Satan the devil knew who God is and he tremble before God.

The Bible clearly tells us that for Apostle Paul, there is one God. But his God is not Christ because he distinguished that Christ is the mediator between God and men. And Christ who is the mediator is said to be a man.

If we will say that Christ is the God, then who is that God whom Christ is mediating before the men. Remember that God is only one, and He is the one being mediated by Christ from the men.

In other words, Christ is a man. If He had done any wonders, miracles and signs, these are not His own work, but the work of God. God did these things using Christ as instrument.

Christ Himself said that He is a man. When He said "He is a man," it is the truth, and this truth is attested to not only by Christ Himself but by God too, because according to Christ what he said is what Heard from God.

But what about those who said that Christ is a true God and true man? Well, from this verse, it is already clear that Christ introduced Himself as a  man "have spoken the truth which he heard of God." He did not say that He is a man and that what he had spoken is the one he heard of Himself.
